I could write a length of words about the Hebrew text of Exodus 20:2, but I am just gonna touch on two main points that have touch my thoughts, but if there is any questions or comments that anyone would like to share, please do!
1st point is about the 1st word "LORD", in the strongs dictionary it says the word is not a mere copula, but a axlom beacon, which means a statement that is generally accepted as true, a proposition reguarded as self evident truth, axlomatic.
The 2nd point I'd like to point out is about the very last word of the last word "bondage". I'm really not a very good preacher, so I'll tell you a little about 1st century living & todays society, & you can make your own conclusions. Hopefully I'll get my meaning accross.    In the 1st century, the number one occupation was slavery. Slaves could own homes & property, they could have families, they could even have other slaves to work for them.  If you liked your slave master, you could nail your ear to his door post of his house, then you could never loose your bondage from your owner. It sounds like unionism to me? But if you like your situation, & maybe feared the loss of your job or posistion with that slave master that's what you did, & then the slave owner could do whatever he wanted with you & no one could take you away from him. You'd have to worship him! Today the majority of americans, I say that 'cause I don't travel abroad, like to pay with the credit card,Being in a business that sees alot of money transactions, I see an increase of credit card use to the point that a business cannot operate without accepting them. Now there are many good reasons for using these cards, but there is one really bad reason, "Credit", by using this card as a means to pay for something because you don't have the money now, but you know that you will, is the same as 1st century slavery. Now you need to work to make sure that you have money to pay the dept that you've made. So you either worship your job or your credit card. GOD want us to depend on HIM for our needs. I always say " GOD guides, GOD provides." He does'nt make us nail our body parts to His house, CHRIST did that, so we can never loose our place with HIM, HE dose'nt make us worship HIM, HE gives us free will. But we must choose, Deutronomy 30:19.
